It’s my 4th NYE in London – third time playing at Guanabara.

Actually, I feel so lucky to do so – cause if I were just at London I would be going there to celebrate anyways.

There is a real, authentic feel of Brazil on that night, because we usually have a really strong… eermm.. ‘belief ‘ in NYE (aka Revéillon).

Everyone seems to believe (at least during New Year’s Eve) that  everything’s gonna be better next year – like me,  cause I know I’m gonna be better next year! That’s when I’m gonna finish everything I still haven’t finished, start everything I still haven’t started, quit smoking, drink less, stop eating junk food, protect my ears from the beeeeep, stop getting late, take better care of my records and bla bla bla blablabalb….

You see? That’s kinda how it works.

So, reviewing last year, in december 31st 2007 I could describe the mood at Guanabara as… at least revolutionary.

Hard party up to 5am with absolutely the same line-up from last year – D.vyzor, Spiritual South, Mandinga(live), London Samba School(live) and DJ Limao.

I play two sets – a short one from 11:15 (’08) to 00:05 (’09!) and then from 2:30 to close.

Hardly recomended. Go check Guanabara’s website right now, cause tickets go really fast.

  • Before Guanabara I’ll open the night at EGG, playing some electro and miami bass from 9 to 10:30. That’s a really good bash for those who aprecciate electronic music. Sambatralia’s room will be filled with good music up to 7a.m. The club breaks the morning up to 12a.m.
  • After Guanabara I’ll play morning tecno at F.R.I.E.N.D.S party, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m, at Arch One bar, Waterloo station, where the party comes from ‘08 up to the first noon of the year.

Brazilian Beatz, at Bristol is one of the reasons I manage living in London.

Always when I travel all the way from London to Bristol, to play alongside DJ Vivo in the legendary South-west party, during the 150 minutes on the road I leave London’s rush and madness behind to get there in the hype it demands me. And I always get back home lighter than I left, despite the long journey.

The smiley, happy and pretty crowd, that is just set on fire as early as 11pm when the amazingly energetic capoeira show, performed by Beribazu, leaves the dance-floor hot and ready for the heavy Brazilian Beatz that goes on, ranging from samba and baile-funk to latin-house and drum n’ bass, up to 3am.

The party is more than 4 years-old, and DJ Vivo – an English guy that speaks Portuguese as someone from Rio, where he’s been thru more than I, Brazilian from Sao Paulo did – from the very beginning had extreme care about the music he played to suit the ‘foreign’ people is his own country.

And he did it so well!. And that’s why it happened to be so pleasant to play every gig there. To play good music for good tasted listeners is the biggest pleasure that my job can provide me.

Thanks Bristol! See you later guys!

and thanks Ben Gillet, for the pictures!

Gala – ESPM at its best!

When you think about 3500 people drinking as much Smirnoff, Red Label, beer, and energetic drinks as they feel like, the first image that comes to mind is a proper hell on Earth with drunk people all over the place, disturbing everyone, throwing up everywhere, to mention the least.

But this is a different situation. Here we’re talking about a crowd that – first of all – is used to that (or rather, knows how to party…). There’s nothing like ESPM Atletica’s standards on how to organise parties.

Last time I was there, it was a four-day party, all-you-can-drink, so just one night all inclusive is a piece of cake to handle for those privileged guests!

They get really mad, but the mood is extremely positive, and as high as it gets.

When you wonder how come it is just absolutely so well organized – with as many issues to sort out as any party that big would have, you easily realize that it is thanks to their 25-hour day working crew.

The thing is – they do that for love – pure love.

And I love it too.

That’s why I won’t try to describe it anymore! Just gonna upload some pictures, and use this post to say thanks to every single one of those who made it happen!

From those who organized the whole mega-event to every single one who simply was there, I’m deeply grateful to all of you!

Won’t mention any names, as those whose names would be mentioned here already know that

Again, ESPM proves to be an incredible, unbelievable family! And it just gets better and better!

And I’m deeply proud to be part of it.

Cheers!

Valeu!

NOD BROS.

In one hand you get a qualified musician, composer and conductor specialized in composition and orchestral instrumentation, who has been playing gigs with a variety of musicians, such as Bosco de Oliveira, Ed Motta, Joyce, Azymuth, Clara Moreno, to name a few, in places like London’s Jazz Cafe and Cargo.

In the other hand you get a qualified DJ and producer specialized in brazilian beats and house music, who has been opening the main brazilian concerts in London such as Gilberto Gil, Seu Jorge, and Los Hermanos, playing house music and global beats at festivals as BBC X-tra FavelaFeva and Antiworld 777, and also spinning at clubs Egg, Fire , Guanabara, Cargo and Dingwalls.

Put your hands together and you have NODBROS. - a partnership that brings a whole new conception of fusion of electronic and organics beats on studio. See what you get at www.myspace.com/nodbros

This video was made with images collected sometimes precariously from my camera over my bicycle around England and Netherlands. But never as low quality as youtube reduces it to…

As a long trip, the track SOLSTICE has lots of different moods during the way, and while editing this clip, I tried to connect both musical and visual moods, so watching it can definitely lead you to a pleasant journey.
