I recently had a flash, while having a drink and chating amenities with a friend – “My nick name happened to be Limao (stands for ‘lime‘ in portuguese), everywhere I play in UK serves caipirinha, almost all of the good ones made with top cachaca brand Sagatiba Spirit. Caipirinha is made out of lime, ice and Sagatiba, so Limao and Sagatiba should have doing something together, shouldn’t we?” then we got back to the bar conversation that I interrupted with this business thought, and nothing was done about it.

Couple of months after that, I’ve been surprised by Sagatiba’s PR agency, inviting me to join them on this amazing journey that is Sagatiba Spirit Lifters.

Basically a happiness pill destined to cheer up the most miserable of days.

In an outstanding job by Frank PR, everything were organized, all the pieces put togheter, and there we were, in shuttle bus, with the amazing team from Capoeira Palmares and the agency crew, followed by a van with a mobile bar and Sagatiba brand embassor John Gakuru, ready to hit the most different offices all around London.

The mobile service would bring to your office, door, wherever - myself, to spin the most uplifting Brazilian tunes and Sagatiba’s top mixologist on hand to demonstrate how to make authentic Sagatiba Caipirinhas and to give you some top cocktail tips to ensure you’ll be serving up the best drinks in town, while capoeira dancers get the room moving..

It was such an amazing experience to be able to deliver  this service to people who were spending their regular/tough/boring day at their offices when suddenly  got shocked by a whole team that pops in and before anyone notice what was about to happen, the music is pumping, the capoeira dancers are flying up to the ceiling, and everyone has in their hands a glass of perfect caipirinha.

That made people happy. That really made their day better. And what’s better in life than to be able to, thru your work, make people happier?

I’ve been raised following Economiadas. Since 1996, still as an ESPM student, till the end of my uni days, then afterwards, either producing the parties with  Gervasio Productions, or DJing sometimes night and day, I’ve kinda always been into it.I love Economiadas.

And it’s amazing how the event raised itself, too. 10 years ago, small schools had enough room for the 500ish  students that were about. That was one single big party, even though the whole bank holliday were already a constant party time.

Back to 2009, the venue choosen were a massive Country-club, Rio Branco, with plenty of room for 2000 the people sometimes there at the same time. With a huge pool were a complete stage were located. That stage just did not stop. In between all the acts, I’ve been djing and hosting the whole event , to insure(preciously helped by DJ Alan Kin) the music wouldn’t stop 24 hours-a day. Thru 4 days.

It totally does wreck me down, this sleepless marathon, but the reward always make it worth. It makes me feel the fresh air of teenage-hood back again, partying not bothered with the outside world, exactly how I felt 10 years ago when I was there, along my friends from school, living the histories that nowadays we’re proud to tell, round and about pubs around the globe.

The energy I got from the crowd is so amazing, that I manage to stay there, playing while some guys got to their tents, get some sleep and get back to the floor, just to hear a loud GOOOD MORNIIING straight away from my microfone… I’ve been playing during every sunrise of the 4 perfect days. Every party at night kept running till the morning after, turning all into just one party. I don’t think I’d manage to do it under any other circumstances than turning 20 again.

Economiadas is now, at ESPM, not just an inter-univesitary sports event, but is as well a proper festival, a 96-hour party. Open bar. A really good one

I say thanks for all who had been there, and specially for Atletica ESPM crew, for making it all happens in absolute harmony.

Economiadas eh um evento que eu cresci frequentando. Desde 1996, quando virei aluno da ESPM, ate o fim da minha carreira universitaria e mais tarde, ou produzindo as festas da ESPM junto a Gervasio Producoes, ou tocando as vezes dia e noite em alojamentos nas mais diversas cidades do interior paulista.

Adoro Economiadas.

E eh incrivel como o evento cresceu nso ultimos anos. Ha 10 anos atras, o alojamento era instalado em escolas, de pequeno porte, e, apesar da animacao o feriado todo, a festa grande era em uma so noite.

Ja em 2009, a ESPM se instalou na sede de campo do Rio Branco Futebol Clube, em terreno colossal, a beira de uma represa, com um parque aquatico com tobogas e uma piscina imensa, na beira da qual foi montado um palco para todas as atracoes do feriado. De quinta a domingo literalmente nao parou o palco. Entre todos shows e DJs que se apresentaram, este DJ que vos escreve, bravamente auxiliado por DJ Alan Kin , garantiu 24 horas por dia de musica. Por 4 dias.

Eh extremamente desgastante para mim esta maratona, onde se come mal e nao se dorme quase nada, porem a recompensa eh muito valiosa.  Volto a sentir o ar adolescente, despreocupado com o mundo pra fora do portao do alojamento. Como me sentia ha 10 anos atras quando estava la a passeio, com meus colegas de faculdade, vivendo historias que hoje, pais de familia barrigudos se orgulham de poder contar pelas mesas de bares pelo mundo.

Porem pra mim esta troca de energia eh muito grande. Inexplicavel. Alguns dormiam e acordavam, e ainda estavamos la tocando, microfone na mao, berrando BOM DIIIA ESPM!!!. E la ficavamos o dia todo, ate de noite, e no dia seguinte… Todas as manhas nasceram enquanto eu estava tocando. Todas as festas prosseguiram na manha do dia seguinte e viraram tudo uma festa so. Nao acredito que poderia completar esta missao em outras circunstancias, so voltando aos 20 anos, mesmo…

Com a ESPM, a Economiadas agora alem de ser um evento esportivo inter-universitario, se transformou em um verdadeiro festival open-air non-stop de 96 horas, com bebida a vontade no pacote.

Muuuito mais legal.
