CARNAVAL DA BAHIA (Bahia Carnival) with DJ Limão + LIVE: TRIBO - GUANABARA -
When - Wednesday, 25 Feb 2009 – 6pm/2m – £5
Description - For the last day of our 6-day-carnival bash we thought there’s no better GRAND FINALE than to bring you the TRUE VIBE OF BAHIA CARNIVAL MADNESS. Bahian carnival is the other major carnival celebration besides Rio and, with millions of people gathering on the streets jumping, singing and dancing, it’s impossible to resist the vibrant sound of the TRIO ELÉTRICO – massive sound systems with an impressive infra-structure which carries the likes of Gilberto Gil, Ivete Sangalo, Daniela Mercury and their shows, just to name a few. This is the last chance for you to go mad, so LET YOURSELF SURRENDER TO THE RHYTHM OF BAHIA. Playing live is TRIBO, an authentic live Brazilian band from Bahia’s capital, Salvador. A samba-reggae sensation with influences of Timbalada, Olodum, Ivete Sangalo and Magarete Menezes. The music director is Marcos Santana of ex-Timbalada fame and singer Elisangela of Salvador’s Carnival. Plus, this night they welcome Rebeca Vallim as their very special guest. As a tradition inspired from legendary group TIMBALADA, all band members paint their faces and you can join them too! So COME EARLY TO GET YOUR FACE PAINTED IN TRUE TRIBO STYLE. Now, statistics show that every year on the last day of carnival the hospitals fill up with millions of Brazilians with bleeding, sore, sprained and sometimes broken feet… Don’t worry, we have a first aid kit somewhere…
